The St. Clairsville Public Library is now offering St. Clairsville library patrons free passes and tickets to a variety of locations. Whether you’re looking for a family adventure or something fun to enjoy on your own, there will be an experience waiting for you! Below is a list of participating locations with links to their websites for information on their locations and hours. Passes and tickets will be available on a week-by-week basis, so be sure to stop by the library and reserve your experience. New adventures are just a library card away!
Age Of Steam Roundhouse Museum
Embark on an unforgettable journey with the Roundhouse Tours where, history comes to life. Offering the world’s largest private collection of steam locomotives and featuring nearly two dozen steam engines, alongside vintage diesels and rolling stock. The tour takes approximately 90 minutes and is about 1/3 mile in length.
Fort Laurens Museum
Visitors can walk the grounds and see the fort’s original outline. A small museum pays tribute to the “frontier soldier” through video and artifacts excavated onsite. Memorializing all unknown casualties of the American Revolution, Fort Laurens’ Tomb of the Unknown Patriot is the final resting place of one of the fort’s soldiers who remains unidentified. Historic Zoar Village
Explore this one-of-a-kind village and National Historic Landmark, settled in 1817 and home from 1819 to 1898 to a communal society of German religious dissenters. Visit restored Zoarite buildings and businesses and enjoy a walk in Zoar’s big public garden, preserved and maintained as it was in the 1800s. Stop by the Zoar Store, built in 1833 as the commercial center of the 19th century community. Average visit time: Allow 1+ hours
Kruger Street Toy & Train Museum
The building, a Victorian era school built in 1906, provides an excellent historical location to house the many classic toy collections, as well as other collections from around the world. Featuring exhibits on trains, dolls, miniatures, board games, puzzles, Ohio Valley history and more. The museum has ample parking and is easily reached by anyone traveling in or through the Wheeling area. Take a step into your past and relive fond memories of childhood. Dennison Railroad Depot Museum
Dennison, Ohio became one of the most complete railroad shops and yards in the country at the turn of the 20th Century. Features interactive exhibits, a rare WWII hospital train car, a children’s experience car, and a massive 1940s model train layout of Dennison’s rail yards. Average visit time: Allow 2 hours
Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens
Ernest Warther found a pocketknife in the dirt road., picked it up, started whittling, and didn’t set it down for another 82 years. The museum is housed within the preserved 1910 family home and original hand-tool workshop used by Ernest. Exhibits include highly detailed, working scale models of locomotives carved by hand out of walnut, ebony, and ivory. Average visit time: Allow 2 hours
National First Ladies Library & Museum
The Visitor Center and Museum, housed in the former City National Bank building, hosts several exhibit galleries, a Victorian theater, a children’s interactive zone, a research library, conference and seminar rooms, archival storage and processing rooms, and administrative offices. Here, visitors can explore the legacies of our nation’s First Ladies and enjoy featured exhibits that take a deeper dive into their contributions to American history. Average visit time: Allow 2-3 hours
