3D Printing

New For You! 3D Printing

The St. Clairsville Public Library’s 3D printer is available for making three-dimensional objects in plastic using a design that is uploaded from a digital computer file. We have a multitude of filament colors and the average print time is one week.

Cost: The grant that provided the library with 3D printer filament has ended. We are now charging a nominal fee for 3D printing services. The cost is based on color of filament and amount used in grams. Cost will be determined at the time of request, and the model will not be printed until the quoted cost is agreed upon. Please email our staff at 3dprinting@stclibrary.org if you have any questions or if you would like to request a model to be printed.

Requesting a print job: Browse the many 3D objects available on the makerworld.com website and select one that you want to 3D print. Email the website link of your 3D object – along with the color, quantity, and any changes needed – to the email address: 3dprinting@stclibrary.org and trained library staff will handle your request. Include your library card number in the email or call the library.

Colors available:

Matte Colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Light Blue, Dark Blue, Pink, White, Gray, and Black

Silk (Shiny): Gold, Rose Gold, Red, Yellow, Teal/Green, Blue, Purple, Silver, White, and Black

Notification when your print job is ready: The average print time is one week. Once your print job is ready, you will receive an email with instructions for picking up your print job.

Restrictions: The St. Clairsville Public Library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request. The 3D printer may be used for lawful purposes only. Patrons are not permitted to use the printer to create objects that are:

  • Prohibited by local, state or federal law.
  • Subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.
  • Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or pose an immediate threat to the well being of others; for example, guns, knives or other possibly lethal weapons.
  • Items that are obscene or are deemed inappropriate for the library environment.
  • Objects larger than 5″x5″x5″.

Items printed from the 3D printer that are not picked up within seven days of notification will become the property of the St. Clairsville Public Library. Items must be picked up by the individual who requested them. Any patron who does not pick up their print job will forfeit access to future 3D printing.
