Using Library Computers

Library Computer Use

Library patrons are granted free access to available computers on a first come first served basis. All patrons must agree to the library’s Internet Access Policy in order to use the internet on library computers.

If the patron is from out of the local area and does not have a library card, temporary use will be granted or denied at the discretion of the library staff and/or Director.  There is no barcode to enter computer use, though some computers do require a password due to their function.  Staff members can help patrons log on to password protected computers, if the password is not available on the machine itself.

The library does offer computers specifically for word processing, job searching and examinations.  Use of such computers may be granted or denied at the discretion of the library staff and/or Director.

The Director shall establish time limits on computers to accommodate timely patron access.

Computer Use Times

The time limits on the computers at the library vary by location.  Once the time limit is reached, the computer automatically logs-off.  Any files or log-in information are erased from the computer after the session times-out.  Patrons need to make sure they save all data they wish to keep onto a CD or flash drive.

Patrons may access the computers in the library lobby for 30 minute sessions.

Computers in the Information Services area on the second floor may be accessed for 2 hour sessions.
